THIS IS INSANE: Trump just predicted the collapse of Cuba on the floor of the United Nations, and Cuba’s own delegation stood up and walked out of the room while he was still speaking.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly Tuesday, Trump made a startling declaration.
“My administration is also seeking a fundamental change in the situation in Cuba, where the communist regime is under great pressure, the biggest pressure they’ve ever been under,” Trump said. “It’s an absolutely failed state, it’s failing like never before, and it will fall.”
As Trump delivered that prediction, Cuba’s UN delegation got up and left the General Assembly Hall entirely.
Read that again. A sitting U.S. president predicted the downfall of another country’s government, on the floor of the United Nations, and that country’s own diplomats walked out in real time.
This didn’t come out of nowhere.
The Trump administration has aggressively tightened sanctions on Cuba, sanctions that have reportedly shuttered hospitals and made food scarce for ordinary Cubans. Reports have also revealed Trump actively considered launching a military operation against Cuba and abducting its leaders, similar to what he authorized against Venezuela’s president earlier this year.
The U.S. has maintained an embargo against Cuba for 66 years, one that’s been internationally condemned since 1992.
Trump closed his remarks with a warning.
“Will not allow a haven for foreign adversaries to threaten America on our own doorstep,” Trump said. “It’s right at our doorstep.”
