THIS IS HUGE: Former Epstein associate, billionaire Leon Black, is being held in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify in the Epstein probe.
Black paid Jeffrey Epstein $170 million and maintained a close personal relationship with him for years while Epstein trafficked women and girls. Now Congress is holding Black in contempt for refusing to talk about it.
The House Oversight Committee voted unanimously, 41-0, to recommend Black be held in contempt after he refused to comply with subpoenas seeking his testimony and the nondisclosure agreements the committee has been trying to obtain for months.
Committee Chairman James Comer didn’t mince words. “Subpoenas are not suggestions; they carry the force of law and require full compliance,” he said. “Mr Black’s testimony is crucial to our investigation because he maintained a close personal relationship with Epstein for years during the time when Epstein was engaged in sex trafficking.”
Black skipped his scheduled deposition entirely, produced only one of the many NDAs the committee requested, and instead sued to block the subpoenas, calling them an overreach.
This matters most because of who pushed for this all along. Before Black’s scheduled deposition, more than a dozen survivors of Epstein’s abuse publicly urged him to comply, arguing that scrutinizing his NDAs could shed real light on his relationship with Epstein and others in Epstein’s orbit.
A billionaire with a $170 million paper trail to Epstein tried to simply ignore Congress. Instead, lawmakers from both parties, standing with survivors, voted unanimously to hold him accountable.
The resolution now heads to the full House floor.
