THIS IS MAJOR: Reports indicate that Xi Jinping is gravely ill and rival factions in China are mobilizing for civil war.

Veteran Washington Times correspondent Bill Gertz, who has covered China for decades, dropped the bombshell post: rumors claim Xi fell ill during his trip to India, ranging from a minor illness to a stroke worsened by delayed treatment. Then came the wildest part. Some claims suggest rival military factions are “mobilizing for civil war.” Conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt backed Gertz immediately. “Bill is a serious reporter. Has been on China Watch for decades. So watch this space.” And the story kept growing. Journalist Dave Troy noted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also reportedly fell ill after the same BRICS summit in India. China analyst Gordon Chang dropped an even bigger claim, that the Chinese military may have released two of Xi’s most feared political rivals, Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang, warning that if true, “Xi will not feel safe leaving China.” Watch what happens next. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is meeting with Chinese counterparts today, and the U.S.-China summit set for September 24th is still on the calendar, for now. If that summit suddenly disappears, that’s the signal to watch. Serious people are saying watch this space. So we are.
