THIS IS HUGE: A brand new poll just dropped a bombshell on Texas politics, showing Democrats winning both the Senate race and the governor’s race.

James Talarico has been polling ahead of scandal-plagued Ken Paxton for months,

but this new Marist poll shows something much bigger: Democratic candidate Gina Hinojosa now leading Texas Gov. Greg Abbott too.

Read those numbers again.

Hinojosa is ahead 49 to 46 percent in a race most people assumed Abbott would cruise through. Talarico leads Paxton 50 to 44 percent in the Senate race.

Both Democratic candidates are pulling this off the exact same way: locking down nearly every Democratic voter, peeling off a real chunk of Republicans, and winning the majority of Independents outright.

Even the generic congressional ballot backs it up, with Democrats ahead statewide,

in a state that currently sends 24 Republicans and just 13 Democrats to Congress.

And Trump’s own numbers explain why. His favorability in Texas has sunk to just 41 percent favorable, 55 percent unfavorable, dragged down hard by the Iran war’s impact on gas prices and cratering approval on the economy and immigration, the exact issues that used to be his strongest ground.

Texas hasn’t elected a Democratic governor or senator since the 1990s.

This poll says that streak might be about to end.
