THIS IS HILARIOUS: Ken Paxton Was Caught on Audio Trashing Trump’s Midterm Convention, Saying “Everybody’s Numbers Dropped,” and Trump Is Spending $20 Million to Save Him

You really can’t make this up. Ken Paxton has spent this entire campaign hugging Donald Trump as tightly as possible. Then someone hit record. According to an audio recording obtained by The New York Times, Paxton told a group of conservative donors and lobbyists at a private Washington fundraiser last week that Trump’s Dallas convention hurt him. Someone asked him: “Do you feel like he’s a little bit of a drag?” Paxton didn’t exactly defend the boss. “So to be honest with you, the numbers, when we did that convention, it dropped our numbers. Everybody’s numbers dropped. Right now, yeah, not good.” Yes, seriously. This is the same Paxton who beat Sen. John Cornyn in a brutal primary thanks to Trump’s endorsement. The same Paxton who sat in a prime seat at the convention while Trump joked from the stage that he “may not be the best-looking guy I’ve ever seen.” The same Paxton who is trailing Democrat James Talarico in many recent polls. And the same Paxton whose campaign is now being propped up by $20 million from Trump’s own super PAC. Paxton’s team called the story “manipulated nonsense.” Trump said the convention “helped Ken Paxton a lot.” Paxton apparently told donors something very different. Trump is spending millions to save him. And Paxton is privately telling people Trump’s convention made things worse.
